Yes, with the caveat that the beach swim is off the table. Winter (December–March) Arrábida is dramatic in different ways — the cliffs are more atmospheric, the Sesimbra harbor is quieter and more authentically working (without tourist crowds), and the lunch at Ribamar is even better with the post-storm catch. The water is still strikingly blue on clear days. Wear layers; the wind at clifftop viewpoints can be sharp.

Different in three ways. (1) It’s quieter — Arrábida is largely a Portuguese-domestic destination, so you won’t encounter the tour-bus density of Sintra or the cruise-day crowds of Cascais. (2) It’s more sensory — less monument-spotting, more coastal driving, beach time, and seafood. (3) It’s shorter — 5 hours vs. 8 for Sintra, so it fits perfectly into a half-day before or after other Lisbon plans. Many of our returning guests do Sintra on their first trip and Arrábida on their second.

The N379-1 has switchbacks and elevation changes — not extreme but noticeable. For guests prone to motion sickness, we recommend (1) sitting in the front passenger seat, (2) taking medication 30 minutes before pickup, and (3) requesting a slower pace from the driver, which is no problem. We can also skip the most winding section of road and approach Portinho via the easier paved descent — just tell us at booking.

Yes — this is the most common upgrade. Add the Full-Day Extension (+€140) to include Setúbal old town, a wine estate visit, and either a Galápos beach stop or the dolphin-watching boat (+€55/person). The Sado estuary off Setúbal hosts Portugal’s only resident bottlenose dolphin population — sightings are very common April through October. We coordinate the boat departure timing with the rest of your day.

Yes — this is one of our most popular cruise-passenger excursions. The 5-hour duration fits comfortably within a standard Lisbon port-day window (cruise ships typically dock 7am–6pm). We pick up at the cruise terminal directly, complete the full tour, and drop you back with 90 minutes of buffer before sailaway. We monitor ship sail times to ensure you never miss your departure. Yes, very much so — this is one of our most kid-friendly tours. Portinho beach is shallow, sheltered, and ideal for younger swimmers. Sesimbra harbor is full of working boats kids love to watch. The Sesimbra castle has open ramparts and panoramic views that feel adventurous. The day involves less walking than Sintra, which suits younger children and tired legs. Child seats and booster seats are on request.

For a summer tour: swimsuit, small towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat, and comfortable shoes for the castle walk. Cash is useful for small purchases (ginjinha, ice cream, lighthouse view in Cabo Espichel) though most places take cards. A light jacket is wise even in summer — the clifftops can be windier than you’d expect. Winter: layers, jacket, decent shoes for the rocky bits. We provide bottled water in the vehicle.
