Big wave season runs from October through March, peaking in late October to early February. The biggest days require a specific combination of Atlantic swell, winds, and tides — the WSL Nazaré Challenge typically takes place between November and February when conditions allow. Summer (June-September) is safe for beach walking but waves are normal size.
